Chef Elizabeth grew up in the woods of West Virginia, later in the suburbs of Chicago. Much of who she is today shines through as she shares "small town" wisdom on life, love, music and food with the people of San Diego. People get caught up in memories and sentimental feelings awakened by the stories Chef Elizabeth tells as she cooks. Presenting cooking classes offers Chef Elizabeth a chance to share her gift for teaching how to prepare delicious and unusual foods. Chef Elizabeth received her love for cooking from her mother who was an accomplished musician, composer and poet, as well as adventurous chef. Chef Elizabeth was also privileged to spend time with her French godfather, who was an excellent chef and spy during World War II in France. Proud owner of a worm compost farm and a small vegetable garden, Chef Elizabeth encourages cooks to be resourceful and creative with what they have. One of her classic quotes is, "There is no wrong way."
Chef Elizabeth has appeared on KFMB (CBS
affiliate), Channel 8. She also appeared with Rod Luck in a live
interview in her home during Christmas. During each interview Chef
Elizabeth demonstrated and explained each recipe in detail and gave
a brief opera performance. During one of the
interviews she sang how to make a rhubarb brown betty to the music
of Habanera from Carmen. Via the sponsorship of the Healthy Dining Publication in San Diego, Chef Elizabeth has cooked at the Fall Home and Garden Shows and Children Expos, as well as many of the Healthy Dining events held at hospitals, corporate locations, libraries etc. Chef Elizabeth is an opera student of Pandeli Lazaridi who has a school of music called the Academy of Music and Sound in San Diego, known as The Small Opera and The ARK. She recorded a CD with the Peter Rutman Jazz Band and performed at the Art Institute in Balboa Park, on the U.S. Berkeley, and the Claire De Lune Café. Chef Elizabeth sang with sixteen singers who make up the Bach Collegium conducted by Ruben Valenzuela during the fall of 2003 season. The Bach Collegium performs music from the time of Bach, using period instruments when budget allows. Although Chef Elizabeth loves classical music, she greatly enjoys singing with a Folk/Irish group at the noon Mass on Sunday at St. Brigid Church in Pacific Beach. This church has a 10-year-old tracker pipe organ, beautiful frescos, great acoustics.
Chef Elizabeth enjoys bringing musicians
and audience together via her live cooking classes or recorded
programs. |
