Dennis and Leslie Caldwell

There is no greater pleasure then chopping veggies on a solid wood cutting board, especially those as beautiful as Dennis Caldwell's I met Dennis and Leslie Caldwell at the Bernardo Farmers market where they set up and sell Dennis's beautiful hand made cutting boards.  I have "pined" over his boards for a couple of years now and finally have a chaos board of my own which I just love. They are easy to clean and look beautiful on my kitchen counter.  Each board is unique and contains maple, walnut and other domestic and exotic woods, all purchased as scrap wood from furniture mfgs.   Dennis has assured me that these woods are not endangered or restricted. They are sustainably grown woods.

I will have a couple paddle boards with me at all times at my cooking classes if you want to see this fine craftsmanship up close.

It is important to note that each board is unique.  If  you specify what you like about the board (for example) I like a dark stripe down the middle, we will do our best to choose one for you that comes as close to your description as possible.  If I don't have the design in stock that you like I can order but could take 4 to 6 weeks.

Woods used in these boards include:

Maple - A whitish color
Walnut - A chocolate brown color
Cherry - a brownish orange color
African Mahogany - Reddish brown
Honduran or Genuine Mahogany - A deep reddish brown
Beech - A light beige color
Ash - Also a whitish color
Hickory - A light brown to a dark brown color
White Oak - A dark beige color
Red Oak - An orange brown color
Bubinga - An African wood, an off-brown color with lots of figure in the
grain.
Purpleheart - A purple color
Pau Amarillo or Yellowwood - a South American wood that has a distinctive
yellow color.
